Harp Ensemble
This ensemble is a mixed level ensemble open to pedal and lever harpists of school age, from Grade 2 standard and up. The ensemble will meet fortnightly on a Friday between 18.00 and 19.30 at the Cambridgeshire Music Centre in Histon.
The aim of this ensemble is to provide an opportunity for local young harpists to meet other young harpists and to play together regularly as a group. Repertoire can be adapted be appropriately accessible to all levels within the group, and we will explore a wide range of composers and musical styles that we do not always encounter in our playing as solo harpists.
The ensemble runs in parallel with the Music Centre’s Senior level activities, which are weekly and open to players of Grade 6+ standard. Advanced players of both lever and pedal harps may, if they wish, join the Senior Music Centre rather than just the Ensemble. This will give them the opportunity to not only take part in the fortnightly harp ensemble but also to join in the Senior Orchestra which happens on the alternate Fridays. Repertoire for the Senior Orchestra can be adapted to be accessible for both lever and pedal harpists giving advanced lever harpists an opportunity that they would otherwise not have as the County Youth Orchestra is only open to pedal harpists.
The cost of membership is £47 a term. We welcome new players to come along for a free taster session before signing up.
