Sessions cost £56.70 per hour which has been subsidised by Cambridgeshire Music, through educational grants via Arts Council England.

You receive the services of fully qualified music or drama therapists who are state registered and members of the British Association of Drama Therapists, the Health Professions Council and who have relevant Disclosure and Barring checks (DBS). Therapists participate in regular clinical supervision to support their clinical work, and access Continuing Professional Development to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.

`Initial assessment`

After a booking is confirmed, an initial assessment is first conducted, which gives information to help decide on goals, or inform about needs resulting from conditions and circumstances – such as complex needs, learning difficulties, trauma, bereavement and exclusion. Following the assessment, an appropriate period of therapy may be recommended. Arts therapists liaise regularly about their work with teachers, parents or carers and other health and social care professionals who may be involved with an individual child or young person.

`When and where?`

Times of sessions are determined in collaboration with Cambridgeshire Music. They take place weekly and last for between 30 to 45 minutes for a minimum of 24 sessions. The parent/carer/organisation should provide a suitable therapeutic space for the session. This should be an undisturbed space which is available at the same time each week, and where sound will not disturb others.

`Instruments`

Parent/carer/organisations are also asked to provide access to a selection of instruments which may but doesn’t necessarily include a piano, guitar, some tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments and some smaller instruments. We may be able to provide some instruments as appropriate.

`Referrals from professionals & EHC plans`

All arts therapies can be considered for inclusion in an EHC Plan. The assessment process will look closely at the most appropriate interventions to achieve the EHC needs that are identified and the therapists are able to ensure that good evidence of the impact and benefits to the child are communicated clearly through reports, and at meetings. Existing therapists working with a child should be contacted when there is a needs assessment meeting being planned.Funding usually comes from one or several of the following: Pupil Premium budgets, ESLAC, Social Care, Early Learning, Support for Learning teams, CORAM, Together for Families, Support for Learning teams, schools, personal budgets.
