Therapy Provisions we offer
The healing power of music
Music therapy at Cambridgeshire Music launched in 1995 and today we run one of the largest teams of music therapists in the country. Specialist music therapists work in special schools, mainstream schools, units attached to schools and children’s centres across Cambridgeshire, and we see hundreds of people a year.
Music therapy sessions are person-centred and focus on communication using sound – made on instruments and with the voice. Non-linguistic communication is often helpful for those with limited verbal expression, mental health issues, emotional, social and behavioural problems or those with dementia or other degenerative conditions. Sessions can be for groups or for individuals.
Our therapists work with parents, carers and professionals to share skills, support consistency and follow-up outside sessions. We also provide consultations and support for school engagement and mental health issues in schools.
