Cambridge Folk Festival Summer Music Course 2026

We are delighted to offer you our collaborative course between Cambridgeshire Music and Cambridge Folk festival for the third year running.
This year the summer course offers you 4 days of tuition and ensemble playing lead by Cambridgeshire Music’s ‘Creative Learning and Wellbeing’ specialists Prue Ward, Jack Johnson and Orla Casey alongside awarding winning folk specialists Kate Griffen, Ford Collier and Josie Nugent.
Combined with a wealth of knowledge and expertise from the folk music world they will be bringing their skills together to help you unleash a creative, musical part of yourself, working with other young musicians to create an ensemble which will then perform at the Cambridge Folk Festival 2026!!

We welcome instrumentalists and singers of all experience and ability. You may have never had a music lesson before or you could be studying at grade 8 level, for this course we will adapt it around everyone’s abilities ensuring that you gain exactly what you want from the course depending on where you are in your musical journey, so do not fret, come and have a go!! We can’t wait to get started!

The courses will run from –
Dates: Monday 27th- Thursday 30th July 2026
Times: 10am- 3pm daily
Performance- 1st August- Cherry Hinton Hall
Ages- 11- 18
Fee- £150- including lunch daily.

Additional Opportunity – Cambridge Folk Festival Open Mic Night
As part of our Cambridge Folk Festival activities, there is also the opportunity to perform at a special Open Mic Night in Histon on Friday 31st July, running from 7pm–9pm. This is a relaxed and friendly performance event for musicians of all styles and levels. All welcome – booking is essential.
