The Cambridgeshire Music Academy Plus programme features a range of extension activity days for those already playing an instrument. Discover new styles and techniques through workshops, masterclasses and ensemble playing with specialist teachers in collaboration with professional partners.
All Academy Plus workshops run 10am-4pm.
The workshops cost £40 for the day with Cambridgeshire Music Academy Students at £20.

Cello - Sunday 5th November 2023
Students will have the opportunity to play in a cello/bass ensemble and perform a solo in a friendly informal setting. Professional cellist Rebecca Welham will share her experiences as a performer and composer and provide inspiration and cello playing tips.
Viola - Sunday 4th February 2024
A one-day workshop for viola players and other instrumentalists (Grade 4 upwards) who would like to experience playing the viola and find out more about the instrument and its repertoire.
The day will include the opportunity to play in a Viola Ensemble, take part in Viola Karaoke and lots of Viola Jokes.
Song Writing - Sunday 11th February 2024
Ever wanted to write your own music through song writing? Then this is the workshop for you. Come and discover your inner creativity and explore all the different ways of turning your thoughts into your own music.
Flute - Sunday 3rd March 2024
A one day workshop for flautists of all abilities hosted by Peter Noble with support from specialist woodwind teachers. Students will have the opportunity to play as part of a flute ensemble and discover other members of the fabulous flute family!
Baroque & Early Music - Sunday 12th May 2024
Learn to play music from the Baroque era in the Barque style in an early music ensemble.
Discover instrumental playing techniques and stylistic idioms of the era with cellist Tatty Theo from the critically acclaimed The Brook Street Band.
Rock and Pop - Sunday 9th June 2024
Have you ever thought of being in a band, but don’t know where to begin? Well today’s your day, come and explore with Fred’s House how to make that dream become a reality. Working with this award-winning band they will teach you new songs and put you into a band format with themselves and other musicians leaving you with the tools to create a band yourself. The event will end with a gig that you will be a part of! Don’t miss out on this, it is going to be a truly inspirational day.
