The Music Education Hub receives and invests funds provided by the Department for Education via the Arts Council of England. The use of this funding is based on evidence of need and also reference to the strategic functions on this page. Collaboration work and commissioning therefore takes into account the evidence provided through engagement and the development of programme that supports these.
In line with the National Plan for Music Education, the Department for Education and Arts Council England have asked all music hubs to appoint Lead Schools for Music.
Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Music Education Hub is delighted to announce its Lead Schools for Music for 2025–26:
- Chesterton Community College
- Holywell Church of England Primary School
- Linton Heights Junior School
- William Law CE Primary School
- Nene Park Academy
These Lead Schools will play a central role in supporting and helping to strengthen music education across the county. Working closely with the Hub, they will:
- Contribute actively to their local Programme Board
- Support Key Partners in engaging schools, shaping provision, and championing high-quality music education by:
a. Facilitating communication and collaboration where needed
b. Sharing information through school networks
c. Feeding back on school priorities and areas where support may be needed
d. Where possible, providing resources that contribute to professional development and the delivery of musical activities
Progression and Musical Development
The Hub drives broad access to music education, so every child has the opportunity to participate irrespective of their circumstances, background, where they live or their special education needs and abilities.
The Hub will promote good practice in relation to inclusion development across all partnerships and commissioned activity, using evidence provided to support the decisions made for particular projects and development programmes.
