GET INVOLVED IN AN ENSEMBLE FOR 2019/20

PUBLISHED OCTOBER 2019

Experience the magic of performing live

Over the next few weeks, Cambridgeshire Music’s County ensembles will be gathering together for their first rehearsals of the new academic year – and if you would like to be part of the experience, there is still time to sign up! Each ensemble offers the chance for classical musicians who have reached Grade 5 or above to work with other young musicians who are at a similar level. You will learn new skills with lots of support and guidance from experienced tutors, make new friends, and experience the magic of putting on high-quality, live performances together.

Each ensemble will be working on new repertoire for 2019/20. The Cambridgeshire Youth String Ensemble will be exploring music by British composers such as Elgar and Britten, while the Cambridgeshire Youth Woodwind Ensemble is marking the lead-up to the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth by exploring his work for wind instruments. Brass musicians can discover how the use of brass instruments has evolved over the years with the Cambridgeshire Youth Brass Ensemble, through an exciting and varied repertoire covering everything from classical to Dixieland. Percussionists will be working on repertoire designed to develop their technical control, memorisation skills and double stroke techniques in the Cambridgeshire Youth Percussion Ensemble. And the Cambridgeshire Youth Wind Orchestra will be preparing works marking both the end of the Second World War and moments from 1,000 years of English History.
