CYHE was formed in 2016 to provide an opportunity for young harpists in the county to take part in advanced level ensemble work. The ensemble is aimed at pedal harpists of Grade 6 and above, and members are also able to take membership with and perform with the County Youth Orchestra.

Repertoire so far has included Venezolana by Alfredo Rolando Ortiz as their inaugural performance, and a wide range of duets, trios, quartet and quintet arrangements in their second performance in 2018.

Cambridgeshire Music provides a performance opportunity in the summer of each year, and the ensemble is currently exploring the possibility of applying to perform at the World Harp congress in Cardiff in 2020.

2019-20 repertoire will focus towards this, and include Cumbia Verde, by Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, which was premiered at the 10th World Harp Congress in 2008, Manuel de Falla’s Spanish Dance No 1. from La Vida Breve, and a further selection of music written or transcribed by fellow harpists who will also be appearing at the World Harp Congress.

If you are interested in becoming a member of this ensemble, please contact Cambridgeshire Music in the first instance to enquire about suitability, as the repertoire covered is unfortunately currently only suitable for pedal harp.
