STAGE & SCREEN

A series of 15 Minute Performing Arts projects to inspire KS2 Students.

Introduction

Cambridgeshire Music is delighted to introduce ‘Stage & Screen’, a brand new performing arts project to inspire KS2 students across Cambridgeshire to explore their creativity.

Stage & Screen is composed of two projects, 15 Minute Musical and 15 Minute Pantomime, both of which include the opportunity for students to gain Arts Award Discover through Cambridgeshire Music. Having been run as a pilot project with Gamlingay Village Primary Academy, Cambridgeshire Music is now able to offer this project to other schools who might be interested and who would like to work towards their Arts Awards.

Outcome

Within this project, KS2 students will take a piece of literature and turn it into a production, whether it be a musical or a pantomime that lasts for up to fifteen minutes. The students are in charge of writing the script, making props and costume and staging the performance.

Students will be able to enhance their skills in the different areas of Performing Arts (dance, drama, music etc) and build transferable skills through cross-curricular teaching.

Our Aims

Cambridgeshire Music aims to provide routes into Performing Arts & Theatre for young people, and provide opportunities for schools and their staff to develop their creative provisions within a new genre.

The Projects

Stage & Screen Easter Workshop:

Come and join us for a fun filled two day creative drama workshop on 7th and 8th April 2022. Open to students aged 8-12 years, the workshop will explore ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ through sessions in Drama, Music and Movement and create their own performance based on the text.

Students will also have the opportunity to gain an Arts Award Discover certificate through Trinity College London and will record their performance which will be sent to parents after the workshop has taken place.

Dates: 7th and 8th April 10am-3pm (registration at 09:45am)

Venue: The Old Histon & Impington Infant School, New School Road, CB24 9LL

Cost: £80 per participant.

Please note, there are limited places and spaces will be offered on a first come first serve basis.

15 Minute Musical:

Students will explore Musical Theatre, looking at the different theatrical aspects that make up a show. The students will adapt a piece of literature, curriculum based topic or cultural event and create their own Musical, lasting up to fifteen minutes.

15 Minute Pantomime:

Students will explore traditional pantomime texts, looking at the cultural and historical aspects of this genre of theatre. Using a range of Performing Arts skills, students will create their own Pantomime lasting up to fifteen minutes.
