CAMBRIDGE MUSIC CENTRE

Preparation for County Ensembles - for intermediate level players

The Cambridge Music Centre offers a combination of ensemble and orchestral experience on a weekly basis in term time for those playing their orchestral instruments at Grade 2 standard and above. The Centre nurtures specialist woodwind, string, brass and percussion ensembles as well as a full orchestra.

Throughout the term, our team work with students to explore a variety of repertoire following a theme, and embark on a collaborative creative project as well to allow students to explore composition and improvisation within a group context. The last session of each term culminates in a lively and enjoyable performance for parents and friends.

We are inviting prospective new players to join us for a ‘Come and Play’ open session on Friday 10th December 5-7pm at Old Histon Infants School (CB24 9LL). If you are a Grade 2-5 instrumental player who is interested in joining our orchestra, this is the perfect session to come and try playing some Christmas tunes as part of an ensemble. You must sign up in advance as we have limited spaces due to ongoing Covid restrictions. This is a free trial session so there is no charge, however if you would like to continue, the termly cost from January is £49.
