FOR: Primary and secondary schools (whole classes, years groups and key stages), individual singer-songwriters, bands
DATES: September 2018 - March 2019
The county-wide songwriting project Sing For Your School returns for 2018/19! With a focus on the natural world – specifically the Cambridgeshire country-side and local wildlife – plus a host of new resources to support schools on their songwriting journey, this year's project promises to be something really special.
As with the first Sing For Your School in 2016, the aim is to get every school in the county writing their own song, that they also record and perform. The songs are uploaded to the Sing for Your School chart where the public can listen to and comment on them. Students and teachers are supported with resources and workshops to help fuel creativity, which also gives schools the opportunity to work towards their Artsmark accreditation. The project was launched by Cambridgeshire Music for the first time in September 2016 and is delivered in partnership with Cambridge News & Media and Musicnet East.
Sing For Your School supports students and teachers to write, record and perform high quality new songs – as well as in post-production and an online chart. We provide:
Creative writing and songwriting scheme of work developed by our music specialists with lesson plans and guidance. To support this year's focus of Cambridgeshire wildlife and nature, the resources will also include material linking to the key-stage two science curriculum.

2-hr CPD twilight INSET to introduce the materials and techniques
Two 2-hr workshops with our song-writing team with classes of your choice
