THE RHAPSODY SONG WRITING PROJECT

Develop creative writing and composition skills through lyric and song writing

FOR: Primary and secondary schools (whole classes, years groups and key stages), students (up to the age of 21) in Further Education, individual singer-songwriters, bands
DATES: Deadline for submitting songs to the project is 19/03/2021

Our county-wide song writing project returns for 2021 under a new name: The Rhapsody Song Writing Project. As in previous years, the overall aim of the project is to support participants in the creation, rehearsal and performance of their own song. For this year’s project we are asking participants to use their experiences during 2020, and the impact it had on their world, as the starting point for their song.

As with the original projects, the aim is still to get all participants writing their own material. Completed songs can be uploaded to the Rhapsody chart where the public can listen to and comment on them. All participants are supported with resources (including video tutorials) to help fuel creativity. The project was launched by Cambridgeshire Music for the first time in September 2016 and is delivered in partnership with Cambridge News & Media
