Stage and Screen

Cambridgeshire Music is delighted to announce that we have spaces available to join us from January 2024 for our highly popular performing arts programme for KS2.

Since a successful pilot project in 2020, Stage & Screen has now been delivered to over 300 students in schools across Cambridgeshire and is back for 2023 with a brand new look!

After selecting a starting point from the tailor-made resources provided by Cambridgeshire Music, students will receive ten weekly sessions from our staff lasting for 45 minutes. They will also have the opportunity to write, direct and star in their own work and perform it to an audience of specially invited guests in their final session. Through cross-curricular teaching students will be able to enhance their skills in many areas such as creative writing, music, dance, drama and build transferable skills, perfect for use in their everyday learning.

Choose from one of the following themes and begin the journey today!

Roman Invasion:
Travel back to a time of battles, chariots, and gladiators. Exploring the secrets of Ancient Rome and the Roman Empire create a performance with historical links and become your very own Emperor.

Life in the Blitz:
It’s the year 1941 and Britain has been plunged into darkness. Children from all over the country have been evacuated and are sending letters home to loved ones. Create a heart-warming performance about determination and resilience with a focus on creative writing.

Fairy-tale Fusion:
Cinderella’s got a text – she’s invited to a rave! Create a modern re-telling of a classic fairy-tale, exploring the history of pantomime and the techniques behind one of the UK’s most popular theatrical styles.

Shipwreck Cove:
Are you a pirate in search of treasure, or perhaps an adventurer seeking a way home? Exploring adventure stories and folk lore create a performance fit for a Captain with physical theatre and improvisation.

Cost: Priced at £49 per hour the project is made up of ten weekly sessions and is inclusive of all resources. The total price of the project (over ten weeks) is: £490. This also includes the opportunity for students to earn an Arts Award Discover certificate through Trinity College London.
