A really exciting opportunity for string players to explore and learn Indian music with a leading performer of the ‘Jog Gharana’ Hindustani style of violin-playing is coming up this October. The session will be led by Pandit Pallab Bandyopadhyay, a music teacher and composer who has performed throughout the world.
The day-long event costs just £10 and is for all string players (any instrument is welcome) from Year 6 and upwards, adults included. Come and explore the difference between western and eastern string playing techniques, and learn how to compose a ‘raga’ – the melodic basis of much Indian music. The group will also be creating a piece of east-west musical fusion, using some well-known tunes.
This special event will take place on Saturday, 26 October 2019, from 11am to 5pm at the King’s Ely Junior School. Places are limited, so if you are interested please contact Cambridgeshire Music for a registration form by email: email@example.com
