Each year Cambridgeshire Music, in partnership with The Provost and Fellows of King's College Cambridge organise a special event for primary and secondary schools, enabling pupils to experience both the beautiful setting of King's College Chapel and the wonderful sound of its world-famous choir.
Secondary and Special Schools across Cambridgeshire are invited to bring pupils to the service, participating in congregational carols, hearing Christmas readings and listening to the voices of the choristers.
The Primary School's Concert enables schools to be invited on a geographical basis targeting an area of the county annually for a more informal concert to participate in singing carols, hearing Christmas readings and listening to the voices of the choristers
FOR: Please note that these events are strictly by invitation only. We will contact schools annually in order to arrange attendance. There is no public entry.
DATES: The events usually take place at the start of December and the date will be confirmed in the invitation sent to schools
COST: There is no cost for the ticket invitation to this event. Schools are fully responsible for arranging travel to and from the Chapel and details about timings will be provided with the invitation. In addition opportunities are circulated about other visits that can be made in Cambridge to cultural locations around the events in the Chapel. These may have a cost which will be for schools to cover should they wish to take advantage of them.
If your schools is undertaking Arts Award with pupils this event provides an opportunity for them to add to their portfolio through researching, hearing and reviewing the event as part of their award.
The event can also be used as evidence of your commitment to cultural development for ArtsMark.
The partnership with Kings College also brings opportunities for Year 3 and 4 pupils to find out about being a chorister.
